Will PerioPal work on any computer?

When planning to purchase a new computer for use with PerioPal, please follow these guidelines:

Check the hardware requirements and Buyers Guide before purchasing a new computer. Buy a system with 2.0 GHz and 512MB RAM. Going much slower won't be economical over the long run.

Don't: Buy a slower system to save money. This is a productivity tool and will be used a great deal.

Don't: Select a Toshiba Satellite A Series (especially the A65). 

Note: A small percentage of computers do not function properly with PerioPal.  If you are purchasing a computer for speech recognition, please investigate the hardware components carefully. A PerioPal representative will be glad to advise you.

Is PerioPal Mac compatible?

Yes. PerioPal is a Windows product but will work with BOTH the Parallels product and Mac Boot Camp using Mac XP PRO. Contact PerioPal for more details.

Will PerioPal run on Windows Vista?

No. The speech module in Vista was not built to be compatible with previous versions of Microsoft Speech and its voice tools.

Will PerioPal run on Windows 7?

PerioPal runs in the XP Mode of Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate.

Best of Both Worlds!  Windows 7 offers a simple solution for the support of software that is not compatible with changes introduced with the operating system. It involves installing PerioPal in XP Mode, an “XP virtual machine.”.  A PerioPal icon is placed on the Windows 7 desktop.  PerioPal is launched from the Windows 7 desktop in the same way all Windows software is started and stopped.   • Windows XP Mode comes as a separate, free download and works with Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise.
  • PerioPal in Windows 7 - XP Mode is Network Ready. 
  • Integration to dental systems is NOT available at this time.  Please check back for Windows 8.
  • PerioPal should not be installed on the Windows 7 computer but only in the XP Mode computer.

Is the installation of PerioPal on Windows 7 different from Windows XP?

Yes, We like to think of the Windows 7 and the XP Mode Virtual Machine as two distinct computers.  PerioPal should not be installed on the Windows 7 computer but only in the XP Mode computer.
