Installing PerioPal with Windows 7
Windows 7 uses a very different voice recognition system compared to Windows XP for which PerioPal’s industry leading voice controlled software was designed. Now users can switch to Windows 7 and keep PerioPal's tried and true application functioning.
?It should be noted that XP Mode is only needed on a Windows 7 computer where voice recognition is needed (an operatory). Non clinical Windows 7 computers will run PerioPal directly (without XP Mode).
The Best of Both Worlds!
Windows 7 offers a simple solution for the support of software that is not compatible with changes introduced with the operating system. It involves installing PerioPal in XP Mode, an “XP virtual machine” and a PerioPal icon is placed on the Windows 7 desktop. PerioPal is launched from the Windows 7 desktop in the same way all Windows software is started and stopped.

Windows XP Mode comes as a separate, free download and works with Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise.

PerioPal should not be installed on the Windows 7 computer but only in the XP Mode computer.

Install XP Mode on workstations that record exams. Workstations on a network can share/view PerioPal exam data with Windows 7

PerioPal in XP mode is Network Ready. The W7 taskbar makes accessing PerioPal very easy.

Integration with Dental Systems is not available with Windows XP Mode. Please check back for Windows 8.

- The XP Mode is not seeing the Server Workgroup.
